Herrick Memorial Chapel and Interfaith Center, Occidental College
Founded by Presbyterians in 1887, Occidental College has beer
independent of formal religious ties since 1910. Throughout
the years the College has benefited from the generosity
f the Presbyterian community. One example of that support
is this edifice originally dedicated in 1964 as the Margaret
Brown Herrick Memorial Chapel It was a gift to the
College by John P. Herrick in memory of his wife. In
recognition of the college's commitment to
inclusiveness and with the approval of the
Herrick family the building was renamed
in 1990 as the Herrick Memorial
Chapel and Interfaith
Center.
