Transportation would normally mean being sent to the Australian penal colony.
The location is/was here 50.683805, -2.221417, crossing the River Frome.
Note that the plaque was removed sometime in the last 10 years, maybe to stop encouraging people to damage the bridge in order to get cheap transport to Australia.
