Point Arnold is named in honor of
REAR ADMIRAL R. J. "BEAR" ARNOLD, U.S.N.
During World War II, Arnold earned the Navy Cross
for extraordinary heroism as supply officer
of the USS YORKTOWN in the Battle of Midway.
Chief of the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts
from 1955 to 1958,
Arnold served as commanding officer
of the Naval Supply Center, Oakland,
from October 1958 until he retired in June 1960.
