The plaque is located beside the commemorative tree which is planted opposite the village war memorial. The text reads: PLANTED BY PAXTON VILLAGE ENHANCEMENT GROUP TO COMMEMORATE THE 2012 LONDON OLYMPIC / PARALYMPIC GAMES AND IN HONOUR OF ERIC LIDDELL OF PAXTON DESCENT, GOLD AND BRONZE MEDALLIST 1924 PARIS OLYMPIC GAMES. Liddell's mother was born in the village. His athletic career was portrayed in the film Chariots of Fire. The plaque refers to the tree in NT9352 : Commemorative tree, Paxton
