In 2005, Canadian Pacific Railway named a railway interchange in Kamloops in honour of Cheng Ging Butt, a railway labourer who worked on the CPR transcontinental line in the B.C. interior.Cheng Ging Butt was born in Southern China's Guangdon province in 1858, and was one of the thousands who emigrated to Canada between 1881 and 1885.Chinese labourers were paid less than white workers, and many died from harsh working conditions and disease.A large sign/plaque was erected by the CPR on the pedestrian bridge which passes over the mainline near the Cheng Interchange.
