The Goudeau School was built in the 1930s by the Avoyelles Parish school authorities to educate African American children. It evolved out of the Antioch Baptist Church, started on this location in 1905. This school served the Goudeau community starting with 1st to 4th grades and was later expanded to 8th grade. It closed in 1952. The building played a vital role in the community as an education center, and also as a general meeting center. The building is presently owned by Bayou Rouge Burial Society.
