In 2010 the BC Labour Heritage Centre partnered with the Vancouver Convention Centre on a series of plaques telling stories of working peoples' history in the province. On 18 June 1935, 1000 striking longshoremen, led by WWI veterans waving the Union Jack, marched to Ballantyne Pier, where strikebreakers were unloading ships. This plaque details the event, during which authorities attacked the marchers with clubs.
