T.S.C. Lowe's Observation Flight
The first telegram sent from an observation balloon took place on the National Mall in D.C., on the grounds of what is now the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. A plaque commemorates the event. And the photo shows the "Enterprise" in Cincinnati, 1861.
