SKINNER BLUFF
An interesting series of ridges and bluffs assoc-
iated with the Niagara Escarpment are visible from
this site. At the top is a massive dolostone bluff,
an erosional feature flanked by a talus slope of
fallen rock. Immediately below, a ridge of sands
and gravel records the 11,000 year old shoreline
of postglacial Lake Algonquin. The road descends
a small secondary scarp created by resident dolo-
stope of the Manitoulin Formation and a shore
bluff of postglacial Lake Nipissing dating back
some 5000 years.
