Signalling has been conducted for Lloyds on Beachy Head since 1877. This watch tower was leased by the Corporation of Lloyd's from His Grace the Duke of Devonshire 1st December 1882. Rebuilt by Lloyd's in 1896, purchased by Lloyd's in 1897, and formed a part of Lloyd's Signal Station at Beachy Head until 1904. When signalling work for Lloyd's was transferred to the adjoining Naval Station where since then it has been conducted for Lloyd's. July 1931.
