To the southwest is the Manchester Biscuit Company building. The company was formed in 1902 when Lawrence D. Manchester was persuaded by financial backing from local wholesale grocers to purchase and relocate the Vienna Bakery of Luverne, Minnesota. Because of the bakery’s excellent reputation, the company expanded and built a three-story addition in 1909, a seven-story addition in 1915 and the west five-story addition in 1947. By 1947, the company had six branches throughout the Midwest and marketed over 150 different products. The plant closed in 1960 and has since been occupied by Raven Industries.
