David Moss Coulter
1862 – 1935
David Moss Coulter was born in Ontario where he taught school for fifteen years before coming to BC with his wife Lizzie, and their son and three daughters. In 18977, David visited to school chums who ran the general store at Murray’s Corners and they offered to sell it to him. He convinced John Walter Berry, a friend and teacher, to partner with him. They also bought the general store in Fort Langley which David operated while Berry ran the store in Murrayville. David and Lizzie were laid to rest in the Fort Langley Cemetery, just a few steps from here.

The Berrys ran the general store at Murray’s Corners for several years before starting up the Belmont Dairy Farm. Jack served the community as chair of the school board, president of the Fraser Valley Milk Producers’ Association, and as MLA. Jack and Lydia are buried side-by-side in the Murrayville Cemetery.
