Text:  In Recognition of BUDDY BROWN'S never ending support of Seattle Youth Sports Programs

The plaque was installed in about 1998. It is just outside the entrance to the visiting team dugout of field 1 of the Garfield Playfield in Seattle, Washington.

Buddy Brown was a leader of Seattle's Central Area and mentor to many young people -- mostly African American -- from the 1970s until his death on November 3, 1997. Brown worked for Seattle Parks & Recreation at this park, in what is now the Garfield Community Center. He also was a board member of the Central Area Youth Association for more than 20 years.

Brown was a former Army NCO. He umpired semi-pro baseball as well as a few games for MLB Seattle Mariners.
