POOL LOCK AQUEDUCT MDCCCXXVIIII This is on the side of the aqueduct (built in 1829) carrying the Macclesfield Canal across the Trent and Mersey Canal a few metres north-west of the paired locks (No 42). Only one lock is referred to because the second was built in the 1830s after the Macclesfield Canal was opened.
