4th & 14th A.C. March to Kingston

May 18, 1864. Howard´s 4th Corps leading, & two divs. of Palmer´s 14th [USA], moved from Adairsville on this direct road to Kingston. They were halted just outside of Adairsville to await the support of the 15th A. C. of McPherson´s Army of the Tennessee, [USA] which had not yet arrived. The 4th & 14th began the march at 1 p.m. They traveled both the wagon road & R.R. right-of-way, reaching this point on E. fork of Conesena Creek at 6 p.m. May 19. The march was resumed at 5 a.m., Kingston was reached at 8 a.m.
