This property, 85 Merrimack Street, has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior.
"Rest and be thankful to Thomas Brown built 1919" On the side of a concrete framed park seat in the town belt.
The plaque reads "Site of Columbia College 1856 - 1860" The plaque is on a carved stone which reads: "Columbia College First school of higher education in Lane County Built in 1854"
