Home of Silas Wright

Home of
Silas Wright
Statesman
U.S. Senator 1833-43
Gov. of New York 1844-46

Built circa 1830, the home of Wright (1795-1847) is now owned by the St. Lawrence County Historical Association. A surprising amount of Wright's books, legal papers, furniture and miscellaneous items have survived and are on display. The association has kept the house about as close to original condition as possible while still receiving maintenance over 180 years. He is buried locally. An addition holding a local history museum, bookstore and the association's offices is attached to rear of the structure.
