The Furnas Volcano is a major dormant volcano of silicious noture, with a summit subsidence
caldera. This huge volcanic depression has on eiliptical shape, 8 x 5.6 km in size and includes
an important geodiversity.
This geodiversity is expressed by the Furnas lake, severai small-size volcanic landforms (as
scorio cones, pumice rings and lava domes) fumarolic fields and many types of thermai and
mineral waters, which are part of the so-called "Furnas Hydropolis"
