Dewey W. Wills Wildlife Management Area

Dewey W. "Jakie" Wills (May 15, 1930 - March 17, 1993) was born and raised in Pollock Louisiana. He graduated from Pollock High School, Southwestern Louisiana University and Louisiana State University. In June 1955 he began his career as a District Wildlife Biologist in Ferriday with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission. Dewey Wills served the people and wildlife resources of Louisiana with great dedication for 27 years and retired as Assistant Chief of the Game Division in 1982. The 1993 Louisiana Legislature passed Concurrent Resolution #163 by Senator Don Kelly which urged and requested the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to rename Saline WMA as the Dewey W.
