Wait Block
VERMONT, BENNINGTON COUNTY, Wait Block, Near jct. of Main and Bonnet Sts., Manchester Center Village, Manchester, 96001327, LISTED, 11/07/96. This is the listing as it appears on the web page of the National Register of Historic Places. What I love about this is that it is a big shopping district with a block that is called "Wait" and that there is absolutely no information as to why this is "worthy of preservation" on the plaque itself. Head over to the NROHP web page (run, by the way, by the National Park Service) & it is listed, but also no reason why. I guess the National Archive or Library of Congress keeps all the paperwork that needs to be filled out in order to get one of these plaques. Or it simply hasn't been digitized yet. Now THAT would be a project!
