The mining ghost town of Sandon once was home to 10,000 people. The 1898 cemetery demonstrates the role the Western Federation of Miners, their union, played in everyday life.Many of the headstones were erected by the Union to honour their members and bear the inscription ""W F of M"".Most of the headstones have been relocated to the nearby Sandon museum.
