During the War of Independance,
the Tel Aviv Port was a gateway
used to deliver weapons and arms
to the defense forces.
On April 1, 1948, the Hagana ship
"Nora" broke the British naval
blockade, as did other ships,
enabling the IDF to fend off
attacks by Arab armies.
The mission was carried out by
Hagana members and
Palyam seamen who
escorted the ships, assisted
by Tel Aviv Port workers.
