The original charity in connection with these almshouses dates from 1473, but the present row of three small almshouses is probably 16th century, although recently very much restored. This plaque on the wall just below the roof says "In Memory of a Young Airman DUDLEY GREENWOOD Born Jan 10th 1917 Reported Missing Feb 13th 1943. One who has herself grown old has caused these almshouses to be made more suitable for others who are aged." For a view of the almshouses in the street scene see Link
