The inscription is in English and Irish - the former includes the text, "The Great Famine. Erected to those people of Ballybay and district who suffered hunger and deprivation and died during the 1847 Famine, and in grateful remembrance of those countries who welcomed survivors to their shores in their time of trial" Pictured here H7120 : Ballybay Market House
