Peabody Hotel
Everyone knows that ducks swim in the Peabody's fountain, but for a short time in the 1930s the fountain also contained baby alligators. During World War II, enlisted men who had nowhere else to stay were allowed to sleep on the floor of the lobby and mezzanine.
