A plaque recognizing two Victoria women who campaigned for women's suffrage. Maria Grant was elected as the first female school trustee in March of 1895. She and her friend Cecilia Spofford were both active in the movement.The plaque was installed in 1987, the 70th anniversary of changes to the BC Elections Act allowing women to vote on the same basis as men.Universal suffrage was not achieved until much later.
