Memorial for a triathlete, who, according to the photo, dons an intense helmet. The plaque reads:
“The portion of recreational path between here and the Red River has been constructed in memory of Hank Lubka. 1964 – 1991.
Hank Lubka was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed participating in all kinds of sports, eventually becoming committed to the sport of triathlon. Competitors in triathlons are experts in the sports of swimming, bicycling, and running. Between 1989 – 1991 he traveled the United States and Canada to compete in triathlons, gradually working toward the top ranks.
On June 28, 1991, while training on his bicycle Hank was struck by a car and killed instantly just south of Moorhead.
Hank believed that every child should be encouraged to dream big, to find joy and fulfillment in sports, and build a healthy mind and body.”
