Former Vancouver Law Courts
Construction of this monumental court house occurred between 1907 and 1911 at the height of a dramatic period of growth in Vancouver. The classically-inspired design by noted regional architect F.M. Rattenbury provided an enduring visual landmark and symbol of justice in the heart of British Columbia’s new metropolis. This building not only illustrates the important Canadian have long attached to a strong judicial system, but also manifests the high level of construction skills as well as the prevailing optimism of that era. Trials were last held in this building in 1979.
