Albert A. Schwartz, architect
1922
With Its giant two-story corner columns, the South Side Trust
and Savings Bank is an excellent example of a Classical Revival-
style neighborhood bank from the 1920s. Carved limestone
details like the cornucopia above the entrance doors reveal the
building's excellent craftsmanship and high-quality design.
Neighborhood banks like the South Side Trust and Savings Bank
played an important role in the development of their surrounding
neighborhoods.
