Dedicated to David Miller and his vision of the preservation of that which cannot be replaced. He headed the neighborhood group which in November 1962 met with the owners of the closed Duquese Incline in an attempt to rehabilitate and reopen the incline. The group Thanks largely to David’s efforts, was successful, and the Incline reopened July 1, 1963. This group became the Society for the Preservation of the Duquesne Heights Incline and has been responsible for operating the incline since 1964 from that time on David had been president of the society until his retirement in the later part of 2008 over the years he has donated countless hours toward the preservation, promotion and operation of the incline. Today the Duquesne Incline has truly become a symbol of Pittsburg.
A dream David Miller had always had was to one day be able to make available to the public a working museum so this unique incline hoisting equipment could be viewed in operation. The David Miller Working Museum is the culmination of those efforts.
