COTTING SCHOOL
A TRADITION OF INNOVATION AND EXCELLENCE
SINCE 1893
In 1893, two pioneering orthopedic surgeons,
Drs. Augustus Thorndike and Edward Bradford
founded The Industrial School for Crippled and
Deformed Children, America's first school for
children with physical disabilities. It stood on
this site from 1904 to 1988. Renamed
Cotting School and located in Lexington, MA,
Cotting School continues to be a leader in the
evolution and revolution of improving
