Circus fire: 1

The first in a series of plaques about the Hartford Circus Fire. It reads: "2:40 PM...As the wild lion act ends, a small ball of flame breaks out high on the sidewall of the Ringling circus tent. Precious time ticks by before the audience feels danger. Flames climb high to the Big Top, causing a desperate stampede."
