Captain Cooley's House
Captain Le Verrier Cooley (1855-1931) one of the last of the old-time Mississippi River steamboatmen built this house in 1896 and made it his home until 1925.
Captain Cooley's career on the river spanned 62 years and he operated no less than 7 steamboats, the best known of which was the last of the great cotton carriers, his beloved "America"
