This plaque is located alongside the Millennium Path at the edge of King George's Field, Pwll. Although Amelia Earhart was the first woman to pilot an aeroplane solo across the Atlantic, her solo trip was not undertaken until 1932, when she landed near Derry in Northern Ireland. The plaque here commemorates the first ever crossing of the Atlantic by a woman in an aeroplane, though on the 1928 occasion, Ms Earhart was a passenger, and not the pilot.
