BRACKENRIDGE FIELD LABORATORY
THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN

"The Crutchfield Suite"
For 45 years (Fall 1967 - Fall 2012)
Resident Manager John Crutchfield and Grace Crutchfield
lived in this small apartment while John cared for the facilities,
grounds, wildlife and academic life of Brackenridge Field Laboratory.
John and Grace were a constant force caring for both the biota and
especially University of Texas students who experienced nature first
hand at BFL. If you are reading this plaque, it is because BFL is still here.
We can thank the dedication of the Crutchfields for helping secure this
wonderful oasis of urban biodiversity for the future faculty and students
of UT Austin and for all who care for the ecology of planet earth.
