Audley Moore, also known as Queen Mother Moore, was born in New Iberia, LA on July 27, 1898. She was a global civil and human rights leader, political theorist, and educator advocating for the rights and reparations of African people. She joined Marcus Garvey's Universal Negro Improvement Association in New Orleans, learning political strategy. She petitioned the United Nations in 1957 and 1959 to address the racial violence experienced by African Americans and advocated for the compensation or reparations due to the death of millions caused by slavery. Queen Mother Moore founded organizations, such as the Universal Association of Ethiopian Women and the Republic of New Afrika. She received recognition from Nelson Mandela and Winnie Mandela in South Africa as a champion for African liberation.
