The church stands on the edge of Stansted Park. The tower was rebuilt in brick in 1692. The plaque explains that the steeple was rebuilt at the expense of Sir Stephen Langham of Quinton in Northamptonshire. See Link for a photograph of the church with the steeple. Much of the rest of the church was renewed in 1888, but there are many Norman features such as the south door and the chancel arch.
