Pastoral Visit

This plaque commemorates the Pastoral Visit of the Holy Father to the Carmel Mission during his visit to the United States. At the altar of this chapel, His Holiness Pope John Paul II spent time in personal prayer before this image of Our Lady of Bethlehem. "and much to be envied are those who can give their lives for something greater than themselves in loving service to others. This, more than words or deeds alone, is what draws people to Christ.." From address of Pope John Paul II at Carmel Mission September 17, 1987
