May 23, 1864. The Army of the Tennessee (USA), consisting of Logan´s 15th & Dodge´s 16th A.C., crossed the Etowah River at Woolley´s Bridge & by Old Macedonia Church & roads not now existing, reached this, the intersection with the Old Alabama Rd., 75 mi. W. of Stilesboro.

Keeping W. of Euharlee Creek, the troops continued S.W. to a creek crossing at (the present) Aragon, in Polk County.

These troops (right wing of Sherman´s army) (USA), were moving to Dallas, in Paulding County, to out-flank Johnston´s army (CSA) at Allatoona.
