LITCHFIELD MANSION
THIS ITALIANATE VILLA, "RIDGEWOOD," WAS CONSTRUCTED IN 1855 FOR RAILROAD PIONEER EDWIN C. LITCHFIELD FROM PLANS BY ALEXANDER JACKSON DAVIS. FAMED FOR ITS RICH INTERIORS, IT WAS A CENTER OF BROOKLYN SOCIAL LIFE FOR MANY YEARS. THE CITY OF BROOKLYN ACQUIRED THE MANSION AND ITS GROUNDS IN 1869. SINCE 1892 IT HAS HOUSED THE BROOKLYN PARK HEADQUARTERS.
