Historic Well
Located in the basement parking garage in Safeway at 1444 Shattuck Pl, Berkeley, CA 94709. Prior to the 2012 remodel, it was located outside next to a covered well on the south east corner of the property between the building and Shattuck Ave.
HISTORICAL WELL
This well existing prior to 1868 was a source of water to early Berkeley residents and is still flowing.
It was discovered during excavation for this building and now irrigates the planting areas on this property.
