Gulfport-Harrison County Library
Built in 1966, the Gulfport Harrison County Library was designed by Charles Proffer, a local architect. The two-story structure is an excellent example of the New Formalist style and features concrete tile cladding on the exterior, decorative sculptural terracotta, and a monumental spiral staircase on the interior. Heavily damaged in both hurricanes Camille and Katrina, the building was rehabilitated in 2020 for use by the Coast Transit Authority. Listed in the National Register, the building retains many of its original design elements.
