The Denver, South Park & Pacific Railway Company was organized on October 1, 1872. In late June 1874, the cry went up "on to the Pacific" from those ancestors of the men and women of Lakewood and Colorado who had completed the portion of narrow gauge rail from Denver to Morrison, the first segment of the vision of Governor John Evans of Colorado for a railroad to reach the Pacific Ocean. Presented to honor the dedication and work of our ancestors by the Lakewood Blue Spruce Chapter NSDAR, October 1, 1992.
