Alexandria Hall

For a century and among generations of alumni, this iconic academic building has symbolized Louisiana College. When the future of the college remained in doubt following a destructive fire, the people of Alexandria, Louisiana came forward with tremendous financial support. Generous contributions flowed in and funded the construction of what became this magnificent new home for the Baptist college on the hill. The National Register of Historic places calls its neo-classical design "one of Pineville's most architecturally impressive historic buildings.” The renowned firm R.H Hunt of Chattanooga and Dallas drew up the plans for this imposing three-story brick building on August 28, 1920. The Alexandria architect C. Scott Yeager Sr. supervised its two-year construction. President Claybrook Cottingham counted its opening as one of his greatest accomplishments.
