The early cinema experiments of William Friese Greene

It was here that the inventor of cinematography WILLIAM FIESE GREENE 1855 - 1921 carried out his original experiments which led to a world-wide industry.

A commemorative stone plaque for one of cinema's forgotten pioneers. Friese Greene along with many others helped advance the technical and creative aspects of film-making around the late 19th century. Many of The Brighton School's stable of innovators pioneers editing and shooting techniques that were later attriubuted to American directors. A great deal of these techniques are still used today.
