'Il 31-v 1950 Consiglio Comvnale Di Roma.

 Memore dell 'opera compivita dal sommo pontefice Pio xii durante il conflitto mondiale per la salvezza della citta' di Roma.

Ed Anche a tramandare il recordo della solenne e spontanea manifestazione di filiale gratitudine resagli dal popolo Romano Tutto che Lo acclamo defensor civitatis.

Deliberava all'vnanimita' di initolare qvesta piazza al nom di Pio XII

 In data 4 -VI 1950 Il Papa inviala al comune il segvente messagio, "L'Omaggio che Il consiglio comvnale di Roma ci ha reso con vname delibrazione intitolando al nostro nomo la rinnovata piazza prospiciente il grande foro Berniniano e'per noi nuovo vincolo con la citta' eterna e le sve cristiane e civili fortvne. Grati della nobile testimonianza rievocatrice de comune dolore e di felice salvezza. Chiediamo a dio

Chiediamo a Dio che arrida perenne al nostro diletto popolo Romano La Pace. Di Cui vogliamo sia auspicio e pegno l'apostolica bendizione. Pius PP XII.
